Framework 2024

AutoRA

AutoRA connects experimental design, synthetic or real data collection, and model fitting through shared state. The peer-reviewed 2024 software article describes version 4.2.0 and configurable components, rather than an inherently language-model-based agent or a new efficacy benchmark. Researchers must configure the study and assess models and results. This review did not reproduce a participant study or scientific finding.

L2Research workflow (workflow level, not a quality rating) Source: Peer-reviewed source Outcome: Not empirically evaluated here

Research applicability

Documented psychology research workflow, with source-version and evaluation limits retained.

Getting started

Read the primary manuscript and its limitations first. Check implementation access and terms separately; this review did not run an installation, API call to a research system, or experiment.

Maintenance

Source snapshot checked 2026-10-19. Current availability and experimental version parity are separate claims.

License

Research code/data/manuscript terms require separate verification; repository metadata alone is not a reuse clearance.

Workflow & human oversight

L2 applies only to the intended human-configured closed-loop empirical-research architecture. Users define the empirical problem and choose experimental-design, collection and theory-fitting components. A shared state connects selection, observations and fitting; the software article does not establish a particular participant study or universally enforced consent/approval controls. Termination and approvals depend on the user-defined orchestration/components; no universal agent-level or empirical efficacy claim.

Workflow level is not an evidence score; higher is not better evidence.

Approach

User defines problem/methods; experimentalists choose conditions, runners collect synthetic or real observations, theorists fit models that guide subsequent experiments through immutable state. Not intrinsically an LLM-agent system.

Outcomes (as reported by the originating team)

This software article supplies architecture/components and illustrative behavioral use, not a new quantitative efficacy benchmark or participant denominator. Linked empirical papers are separate studies and were not audited.

Limitations

Packages/components must be configured; hidden component state can defeat reproducibility. Real-world runners may involve recruitment/cloud storage. Ethics, participant consent, model validity and enforced human checkpoints are not guaranteed by this article. JOSS software review is not independent scientific replication.

Reproducibility

Not empirically evaluated here. Documentary review only; no candidate code, model, simulation or experiment was executed. A public repository or result artifact is not proof of replication.

Adoption requirements

Untested suggestion: inspect the pinned sources and validate data, evaluator assumptions, implementation availability and researcher controls before planning a bounded trial. No setup or trial was executed.
